Channel guide: #mentors

Private mentor-only support

Mentoring is rewarding, but guiding another professional through complex career crossroads and operational challenges comes with its own unique set of questions. The #mentors channel is an exclusive space reserved strictly for our mentors, a dedicated lounge to connect with fellow mentors and support one another.

How to make the most of this private channel

As a mentor, your participation across the broader Mentors CX community is always voluntary. Within this channel, you can leverage your peer group to make your mentoring sessions as impactful as possible:

  1. Exchange frameworks: Share templates, coaching frameworks, or session structures that have worked exceptionally well in your 1:1 mentorship meetings.
  2. Seek peer advice on anonymized scenarios: If you run into a unique mentorship situation and aren't sure how to best guide your mentee, describe the scenario (without names) and ask fellow mentors how they would approach it.
  3. Shape the platform: Use this space to let the Mentors CX team know what resources, features, or support you need to be successful as a mentor.

Applicable community guidelines for #mentors

Even in a private, mentor-only setting, maintaining trust and psychological safety is paramount:

1. Strict confidentiality & mentee privacy

  • Protect mentee identities: When discussing 1:1 session experiences or seeking guidance on how to help a mentee, always anonymize your mentee’s details.
  • Keep mentor discussions private: What is discussed in #mentors stays in #mentors. Never screenshot, quote, or share peer mentor discussions outside this private space or with mentees.

2. Protect sensitive company data

  • Respect privacy ALWAYS: Do not share confidential corporate data, financial figures, proprietary materials, or NDA-covered details from your own organization or your mentees' employers.

3. Respect mentor autonomy & voluntary participation

  • No obligation: Mentor participation in Slack discussions, public channels, or community Q&As is strictly voluntary. This space is designed to support you, not add pressure or obligations to your calendar.

4. Mindful & supportive peer discourse

  • Treat fellow mentors with mutual respect: While mentors bring diverse leadership styles and operational backgrounds, conversations in this channel should always be empathetic and collaborative.
