Channel guide: #introductions

Slack Community Help CenterUpdated

Meeting the humans behind the CX profiles

Joining a new professional community can feel intimidating, but Mentors CX is built on genuine connection and mutual support. The #introductions channel is your starting line, a welcoming space to introduce yourself to fellow practitioners and start building meaningful relationships from day one.

What #introductions is for

This channel is dedicated to helping members get to know one another beyond profile pics and titles. It is designed for:

  • Making your entrance: Introducing yourself when you first join the Slack community.
  • Discovering peers: Finding fellow members who share similar roles, work in your region, or face identical CX challenges.
  • Setting the give-and-take foundation: Highlighting where you can offer expertise and what topics you're eager to learn about.

How to write a great introduction

You don't need to write a lengthy bio, just give us a glimpse of who you are and what brings you here. Here is a simple framework you can follow:

  1. Who you are & what you do: Your current role, industry, or what area of CX/Support/Operations you focus on.
  2. Where you're located: Your city, country, or time zone.
  3. What you can help with: A skill, framework, or experience you're happy to share advice on (e.g., "QA setup, scaling tier-1 support teams, or vendor evaluations").
  4. What you want to learn: An area where you're seeking growth or advice.
  5. Something fun or personal: A passion outside of work, a favorite hobby, pet, favorite coffee order, or fun fact.

Quick Example: "Hi everyone! I’m Roberto, VP of CX based in Austin, TX. I specialize in scaling hybrid support teams and setting up VoC programs. Right now, I'm eager to learn more about AI agent deployment. Outside of work, I'm an avid gravel cyclist and sourdough baker. Excited to be here!"

Applicable community guidelines for #introductions

To ensure #introductions remains a warm, pitch-free environment, please adhere to these core community guidelines:

1. Value relationships over direct sales (No prospecting)

  • No promotional intro posts: Use your introduction to share who you are as a professional, not to market your company, software, agency services, or products.
  • No unsolicited DM outreach: Seeing a new member introduce themselves is not an open invitation to drop into their DMs with sales pitches, cold prospecting, or recruitment messages. Build authentic relationships first.

2. Keep it human and mindful

  • Welcome newcomers: If you see an introduction that resonates with you or covers a topic you're passionate about, drop a warm reply or welcome reaction in their thread!
  • Be genuine: Authenticity builds trust. Share your real interests and workplace realities.

3. Respect privacy and data security

  • Mind personal details: Share only what you are comfortable making public within our members-only space. Do not disclose confidential information you wish to keep private.
  • What happens here stays here: Do not copy, screenshot, or republish members' intro details or photos outside of Mentors CX without their permission.
