Everyday CX conversations and ideas

Customer experience work is constantly evolving, and sometimes you just need a space to talk with people who truly get what you do. The #community-chat channel is the main digital icebreaker of Mentors CX, a place for casual and thought-provoking discussions about the world of CX.

What #community-chat is for

Think of #community-chat as the heart of our day-to-day conversation. Unlike channels dedicated to specific requests or self-promotion, this space is designed for:

  • Industry trends & news: Discussing major shifts in the industry, new tech releases, market trends, or macroeconomic changes impacting CX teams.
  • CX hot takes & debates: Exchanging perspectives on industry norms, operational philosophies (e.g., phone vs. async support, automated vs. human touchpoints, or CSAT vs. NES metrics), and where customer service is heading.
  • Interesting finds: Dropping a fascinating post, research study, or industry report you stumbled across and want to discuss with fellow practitioners.
  • Casual connection: Sharing the everyday moments, relatable wins, or funny situations that only fellow CX professionals would understand.

How to kick off great conversations

Great discussions happen when members bring curiosity and authentic perspectives. Here’s how to make the most of #community-chat:

  1. Add context to links: If you’re sharing an article, study, or tweet, don’t just drop a link. Include 2–3 sentences explaining why you found it interesting or what specific question it raised for you.
  2. Ask open-ended questions: Frame posts to invite conversation rather than a simple yes/no (e.g., "How is everyone’s team thinking about AI agent handoffs heading into Q4?").
  3. Use threads for focused topics: When a topic picks up momentum, reply in the thread to keep the main channel easy to follow for everyone.
  4. Be candid but constructive: Share real observations from your career without fear, but keep the dialogue encouraging and open to different viewpoints.

Applicable community guidelines for #community-chat

Since #community-chat is our biggest discussion space, keeping it safe and valuable for everyone requires adhering to a few key guidelines:

1. Keep debate respectful and human

  • Challenge ideas, not people: Debate is at the core of great CX thinking. Feel free to disagree with an operational strategy or trend, but always treat fellow members with respect and assume good intent.
  • No hostility: Personal attacks, hostile behavior, or dismissive attitudes have no place in our community.

2. Value relationships over direct sales (No promotion here)

  • Keep self-promotion out of this channel: If you wrote an article, launched a product, released a podcast, or created a template, post it in #show-your-work rather than #community-chat.
  • No unsolicited pitching: Participating in a casual chat conversation is not an invitation to send promotional DMs or pitch products to members. Keep conversations focused on organic connection.
  • What happens here stays here: Do not screenshot, quote, or share members' opinions, comments, or discussions outside of Mentors CX without their explicit permission.
  • Note on community vault: Highlight discussions with high educational value may be summarized or anonymized for the members-only Mentors CX Community Vault.

4. Protect sensitive data

  • Mind internal details: When discussing industry trends or company strategies, ensure you aren't disclosing confidential company metrics, unreleased product roadmaps, internal documents, or information covered by an NDA.
